on moving.
so I took the plunge. I went against my "I love to live alone" motto and have now begun cohabitating with a BOY. let's not even touch that one, mmkay?
instead, let's read a list (or rather, you read, I'll create) on moving.
1. I hate it. Really really. It is so tedious and time-consuming and exhausting. I would like to do it as little as possible.
2. My sister Christie will kill herself (or me) when she reads this, but I really have too many shoes. It's a fact. I live in my boots & chucks. why do I have so many girlie girl shoes when I rarely wear them?
3. On a similar note, I have TOO MUCH CLOTHES. Seriously. I have problems getting rid of clothes. "I may need that blue & white striped button down for an interview one day, as well as the white & blue striped button down."
Also, what in the world ever possessed me to buy and WEAR leather pants?! Sure they came into good use when I did "The Vagina Monologues" but seriously when else are they an appropriate article of clothing? Not to mention that I bought them long before I had hips.
4. I really like organizing stuff. This is not news. However, my OCD tendencies make moving an exhausting process because I can't relax if there are boxes & bags everywhere. These boxes & bags increase exponentially when you are moving 2 apartments into 1. This means that exhausting increases exponentially.
5. I NEVER remember to lift with my knees instead of my back.
6. I think it is a proven fact that boys will always want to wire the apartment for surround sound before they even unpack their underwear.
7. When you move to a second floor apartment curtains are your first priority. When you have 8 windows, this is an expensive priority.
8. Obsessive dorks have their cable/internet set up the same day they move in. We are obsessive dorks. The cable guy had to climb over furniture and boxes to install cable. I couldn't help it. I need my DVR!
9. If you move into a brand new building, and you are the first tenant to ever live in the apartment, you have to be reallyreallyreally careful about moving things. Every scratch and scuff is YOUR fault. This is mildly stressful.
10. If I was ever evicted, I could build a two story house out of my books. There is solace in that.
2 people with opinions.:
hm, where to start?
on shoes (of course i should start there!) - i agreed 100000%!!! i have so. many. shoes. that i never, ever, ever wear. girlie shoes. and yet, i cannot stop buying them. i cannot stop loving them. and so, i have accepted the fact that my closets will always be full of BEAUTIFUL shoes that i will probably never wear.
8 windows = fantastic light. amazing.
this wasnt specifically addressed in your list but i have to say, this is THE PERFECT time of year to be moving. moving = being forced to clean out and, i dont know about you, but my urge to spring clean is serious right about now. i know its stressful and not always fun or easy, but once youre settled, itll all be worth it.
oh, and leather pants?
interesting...
i haven't read in awhile.. now that i have- you are in trouble.
